About Me

Hi my name is Michelle Robichaux (Where my fellow Cajuns at?) and I am Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas (#80901). Let me tell you a little bit about me and why I've chosen to dedicate my life to helping others...
As human beings, I believe that we all have a natural desire to find fulfillment and authenticity in our lives. Thus when we are faced with challenges that threaten or prevent us from achieving this goal, we can find ourselves feeling disconnected from others and repeating negative patterns in our lives.
The good news is that we do not have to face these challenges alone! With every client I work with, my ultimate goal is to provide a safe space that is non-judgmental, compassionate and honest; so that we can work together to identify and change the barriers that prevent you from embracing your true, authentic self!

My Approach to Counseling
In terms of my treatment approach, I believe first and foremost that good counseling is built upon having a solid foundation which takes place in the form of the therapeutic relationship. Therefore, I approach counseling through a Humanistic/Person-Centered perspective with an emphasis on Attachment and Gestalt Theory. With that being said, since there is no "one size fits all" approach to counseling, I make sure to tailor my approach to each client I work with. Therefore I am constantly expanding my skills and training in order to incorporate a variety different theories/interventions to use with clients. Some of these theories/approaches include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS also known as "parts work"), EFT/Tapping and other forms of somatic processing, Self-Compassion Mindfulness and expressive arts techniques.
